It’s National Peach Month – that glorious time of summer when peaches are perfectly ripe. So tender and full of flavor they drip with juice when you take a bite. It’s that sweet taste of summer that makes Tippin’s Peach Cooler Pie so popular.
To tempt your taste buds, we’ll give you a peek at how Peach Cooler Pies are made by hand in select stores by experienced bakers. We enlisted Billie at Hen House Market in Olathe to demonstrate. This pie takes time to make – patience is required for this peachy delicacy!
Peach Cooler Pie starts with Tippin’s flaky crust filled with Tippin’s signature vanilla filling. After filling, the base layers are placed in the refrigerator to cool and set.
Tippin’s uses only the finest, freshest ingredients, like these juicy peaches from Bader Farms in Missouri.
To make them easier to peel, the peaches are blanched in boiling water for about 1 minute and then dunked in cold water.
Blanching helps but peeling peaches is still a time-consuming job, done by hand, one peach at a time.
Billie cuts the juicy peach slices, right onto the pie.
Each pie contains 1½ pounds of fresh peaches, which amounts to about 3 or 4 of these large peaches.
Scoops of hot Tippin’s signature peach glaze are poured over the peach slices. The pie then sits and cools again before the final step.
Billie pipes freshly whipped cream around the edges and finishes with a whipped cream rosette in the center of the pie.
Peach perfection. Snag one of these Peach Cooler Pies while you can!
Many thanks to the hardworking bakers who create these peachy masterpieces for us to enjoy. Special thanks to Billie… she’s a peach!
