You might not think too much about it, but here at Tippin’s we put a great amount of time and effort into finding the perfect ingredients for each of our pies. For each pie, we search and test many ingredients, only stopping when we find the perfect match. We have to find the perfect cherries, blueberries, apples, pecans, walnuts, blackberries, peaches, and that’s just a start.
Our pies have been around for nearly four decades, and most of the recipes have stayed the same. If a new ingredient is recommended to us, we put it through the test. We make several pies with the old and new ingredients to compare taste. Of course, the new ingredients have to be better than the previous for us to change our recipe.
Not only do we test the pies for new ingredients, we test our made-from-scratch pie fillings every batch. After we make our filling, we set aside test cups to be tested. If it is not as good as or better then the previous batch, it is not accepted. We care greatly about the taste of our pie, and we prove this through our ingredients in our pie fillings.
