Before I start learning how to bake, I wanted to introduce to you our summer program. We all know that perimeter shopping is what differentiates your store from the store next door. Regular shoppers of fresh perimeter categories account for 83% of primary food shoppers. According to IDDBA 2015 research, “being perceived as ‘an enjoyable place to shop’ is a relatively large part of becoming a destination store. This can include having friendly and approachable bakers, good lighting, product samples, and engaging with every customer.
We decided to come up with promotions to incorporate different products and ways of displaying them. We tried cross merchandising fresh fruits and flowers as a simple way to brighten up the bakery and make it more enjoyable. “Unique items really say something about the retailer who is providing it,” said Lauire Demritt, CEO of the Harman Group. Shoppers are no longer going to ‘fire’ their grocery store, but instead they will hire multiple ones depending on what they are looking for.
This summer we have created different ways to promote pies in your bakery; Strawberry, Lemon, Patriotic, and Tropical. To see our ideas click HERE.
